How Gemix Works

Gemix is an online slot game from Play'n GO, played on a 7x7 grid format. Unlike traditional slot games with paylines, wins are formed by landing clusters of 5 or more matching symbols that connect horizontally or vertically. When a winning cluster is formed, those symbols are removed from the grid, and new symbols drop down from above to fill the spaces. This cascading action continues until no further winning clusters are created.

The game offers 20 paylines, and you can choose your wager for each round. Bets range from a minimum of £0.10 to a maximum of £5.00 per spin. All prizes are determined by the combination and number of matching symbols landed in the cluster, as specified in the game’s paytable.

The crystal charge meter is at the core of the game mechanics. Each win within a game round increases this meter, and when it is fully charged (once no further cascades remain), a special crystal charge effect is activated. The return to player rate is displayed within the game.

Crystal Charge Effects

Once the crystal charge meter is completely filled and no new wins are formed from cascades, one of four possible effects is randomly triggered to modify the symbols on the grid and potentially create new winning combinations:

  • Chain Lightning: Electric arcs connect two opposite corner symbols, transforming hit symbols into the symbol from one of the corners.
  • Light Beam: Rays of light shoot vertically and horizontally from a chosen symbol, turning all symbols in that row and column into other symbols.
  • Crystal Warp: A symbol is selected on the grid; both it and all matching symbols are warped and changed into other symbols.
  • Nova Blast: One symbol explodes, removing adjacent symbols in a large blast. The blast then retracts to leave a core made up of identical symbols.

After an effect is triggered, play continues, giving the crystal charge meter another opportunity to accumulate for further effects within the same round.

Super Charge Feature

If you keep forming wins and fill the crystal charge meter again during the cascades after a crystal charge effect, the Super Charge feature is activated. When this happens, all wins up to that point and any new wins in the current round are multiplied by 3. This multiplier can be triggered only once per round.

Worlds and Patterns

Gemix includes different in-game worlds, each containing three unique patterns. The current pattern is highlighted on the screen. To progress, you must make winning clusters on the grid positions marked by the pattern. Completing a pattern unlocks the next one in the world. Clear all three patterns to enter a new world and gain a World Bonus, which increases with every win during the game round.

Wild Symbol Variations by World

Each world introduces its own wild symbol, which can substitute for any other symbol to help create winning clusters. Wild symbols appear on non-winning game rounds and are removed if they form part of any win.

  • Miner’s World: Wild symbols drop from above, landing on random grid positions and replacing standard symbols. Up to 10 wilds may appear.
  • Princess’ World: An edge symbol is transformed into a wild, which spreads to adjacent symbols until it reaches another grid edge.
  • Wizard’s World: Up to 8 sticky wilds can be placed on the grid. These wilds remain for one game round or until a crystal charge is triggered, even if included in a win.

  • Changing Your Bet: Select bets using the five bet buttons or adjust your wager step-by-step with plus and minus controls.
  • Paytable: Toggle the paytable to view symbol values and possible wins.
  • Start: Begin the game round using the selected bet amount.

Unfinished Rounds and Malfunction

  • If a game round is interrupted, the outcome and any wagers are saved until you reopen the game and continue play from the point of interruption.
